Moses Chamberlain was born in Rochester, NH, September 16, 1760, son of Deacon Samuel Chamberlain.
Moses Chamberlain married, 1784, Mary Nason. She was born in Berwick, ME, March 22, 1758.
(The known children of Moses and Mary (Nason) Chamberlain were: Sarah Chamberlain (1785-1873), and Samuel Nason Chamberlain (1787-1846)).
Daughter Sarah “Sally” Chamberlain was born in Milton, January 21, 1785.
Son Samuel Nason Chamberlain was born in Milton, January 20, 1787.
Moses Chamberlane [Chamberlain] headed a Rochester, NH, household at the time of the First (1790) Federal Census. His household included one male aged 16-plus years [himself], two females [Mary (Nason) Chamberlain and Sarah Chamberlain], and one male aged under-16 years [Samuel N. Chamberlain]. His household included one male aged 26-44 years [himself], one female aged 26-44 years [Mary (Nason) Chamberlain], one female aged 10-15 years [Sarah Chamberlain], and one male aged 10-15 years [Samuel N. Son Samuel N. Chamberlain married, March 8, 1812, Mary M. Moody. She was born in Lebanon, ME, February 1, 1789.
Moses Chamberlain headed a Milton household at the time of the Fifth (1830) Federal Census. His household included one male aged 60-69 years [himself], one female aged 70-79 years [Mary (Nason) Chamberlain], one female aged 40-49 years [Sarah Chamberlain], one male aged 20-29 years, and one male aged 10-14 years. Their household appeared in the enumeration between those of Hanson Hayes and Jas Hayes, Jr.
Saml N. Chamberlain headed a Milton household at the time of the Fifth (1830) Federal Census. His household included one male aged 40-49 years [himself], one female aged 40-49 years [Mary M. (Moody) Chamberlain], one female aged 15-19 years, two females aged 10-14 years, one female aged 5-9 years, one male aged under-5 years, and one female aged under-5 years. Their household apear3d in the enumeration between those of John Heart [Hart], and Timo Emery.
Moses Chamberlain died of dropsy in Milton, May 9, 1832, aged seventy-one years, seven months, and twenty-one days.
DIED. In Milton, Mr. Moses Chamberlain, at the advanced age of 72 years, – one of the most respected citizens of the town. He was born in Rochester, and in early life emigrated to this place, now called Milton, but then Rochester, and by prudence, frugality, and the most indefatigable industry, acquired a handsome estate. He has left two surviving children, a widow, and six grand children, who mourn the loss of a dutiful husband and a benevolent father. Mr. Chamberlain has ever been distinguished for decision, and firmness of mind, and indeed, where he became the friend of an individual his mind was fixed and not easily moved. His heart glowed with benevolence towards the poor and needy, and they were never sent away empty from his door. One thing may be worthy of notice, his complaint was dropsy in the chest, and when perceiving that his dissolution was at hand, he refused to receive any medical aid from physicians, and declaring that nothing could save his life, said with true christian fortitude that he trusted his all upon the grace, and mercy of God, and thus died in the highest triumphs of faith — Com (Dover Enquirer, June 12, 1832).
Mary (Nason) Chamberlain died in Milton, August 6, 1836, aged seventy-eight years.
John Greenfield foreclosed on several Milton properties mortgaged to him by Hanson Hayes, September 4, 1839. One of the foreclosed properties was bounded by lands of Samuel N. Chamberlain, James Applebee, and Hiram Applebee.
THE subscriber hereby gives notice that for the purpose of foreclosing a mortgage of a certain piece of land and the buildings thereon situate in Milton in the County of Strafford and State of New-Hampshire, he entered upon and took possession of said land on the fourth day of September 1839, it being the land conveyed to him by Hanson Hayes of said Milton by his deed of mortgage dated September fourth, 1839, for the consideration of thirty-nine dollars, said land is bounded westerly by land of Levi Jones and James Moulton, southerly by the poor farm, northerly by the Barry road, containing one hundred and sixty acres more or less, it being said Hayes’s homestead farm. Also one other piece of land in said Milton bounded northerly by the road leading to John Mills, southerly by land of Levi Jones, easterly by land of Adam Brown, westerly by land of Joseph Evans, containing seventy acres more or less. Also one other piece of land in Milton bounded northerly and easterly by land of Samuel Chamberlain, southerly by land of James Applebee, westerly by land of H. Applebee, containing seventy acres more or less. The subscriber further gives notice that he has, this day, entered upon and took possession of the abovementioned premises for the purpose of foreclosing a mortgage for the consideration of the payment of a note for one hundred and seventy dollars. Said mortgage was given on the 14th September 1838, by the abovementioned Hanson Hayes to Stephen M. Mathews of said Milton, and by said Mathews assigned and set over to the subscriber for a valuable consideration. JOHN GREENFIELD. Rochester, Sept. 10, 1839. *15 (Dover Enquirer, October 1, 1839).

Their household appeared in the enumeration between those of James A. Ricker and Hanson Hayes.
Samuel Chamberlain headed a Milton household at the time of the Sixth (1840) Federal Census. His household included one male aged 50-59 years [himself], one female aged 50-59 years [Mary M. (Moody) Chamberlain], one male 20-29 years, two females aged 20-29 years, one female aged 15-19 years, one male aged 10-14 years, and one female aged 10-14 years. Three members of his household were engaged in Agriculture. Their household appeared in the enumeration between those of James Moulton and John Hart.
[Deaths. In Wakefield, Lydia [(Paul)], wife of Capt. David Spinney, aged 69 (Dover Enquirer, August 23, 1842)].
Daughter Sarah “Sally” Chamberlain married in Wakefield, NH, December 8, 1842, David Spinney. Rev. Caleb Dustin performed the ceremony. Spinney was born in Kittery, ME, September 14, 1768, son of Ebenezer and Phebe (Cole) Spinney, she of Milton and he of Wakefield, NH.
Marriages. In Wakefield, Capt. David Spinney of Wakefield, to Miss Sally Chamberlain of Milton (Dover Enquirer, January 3, 1843).
Son Samuel N. Chamberlain died in Milton, May 10, 1846, aged fifty-nine years.
DEATHS. In Milton, 10th inst., Mr. Samuel N. Chamberlain, aged 39 years and 3 months (Dover Enquirer, May 26, 1846).
Son-in-law David Spinney died in Wakefield, NH, July 19, 1848, aged seventy-nine years.
Sally [(Chamberlain)] Spinney, aged sixty-two years (b. NH), headed a Milton household at the time of the Seventh (1850) Federal Census. Sally Spinney had real estate valued at $1,500. Her household appeared in the enumeration between those of Andrew Simonds, a farmer, aged forty-four years (b. NH), and Nathaniel W. Burnham, overseer of alms farm, aged forty-two years (b. NH).
Mary [(Moody)] Chamberlin [Chamberlain], aged fifty-nine years (b. ME), headed a Milton household at the time of the Seventh (1850) Federal Census. Her household included Samuel G. Chamberlin, a farmer, aged twenty-three years (b. NH), Emily Chamberlin, aged thirty years (b. NH), Lucy Chamberlin, aged twenty-eight years (b. NH), Charles Rogers, a farmer, aged sixteen years (b. ME), John Rogers, aged ten years (b. ME), and Lackey Clayton, a farmer, aged twenty-one years (b. NH). Samuel Chamberlin had real estate valued at $3,000. Their household appeared in the enumeration before Hawley Applebee, a farmer, aged sixty-one years (b. ME).
Salley [(Chamberlain)] Spinney, aged seventy-three years (b. NH), headed a Milton household at the time of the Eighth (1860) Federal Census. Her household appeared in the enumeration between those of Phineas Wentworth, a farmer, aged sixty-two years (b. NH), and James A. Ricker, a farmer, aged fifty-six years (b. NH).
Samuel G. Chamberlin [Chamberlain], a farmer, aged thirty-two years (b. NH), headed a Milton household at the time of the Eighth (1860) Federal Census. His household included Mary E. [(Fall)] Chamberlin, aged thirty-two years (b. NH), A. Chamberlin, aged eight years (b. NH), Adelia Chamberlin, aged four years (b. NH), Fred Chamberlin, aged one year (b. NH), Mary [(Moody)] Chamberlin, aged seventy-one years (b. NH), Emily H. Chamberlin, aged forty-two years (b. NH), Lucy R. Chamberlin, aged forty years (b. NH), and F. Daughter Sarah “Sally” (Chamberlain) Spinney died of old age in Milton, October 26, 1873, aged eighty-eight years, four months. She was a widow.
Daughter-in-law Mary M. (Moody) Chamberlain died in Milton, January 6, 1874.
